Material:
Fire gear uses multiple layers. Each piece is different:
Outer Shell – Jacket & Pants: Aramid FabricUsually Nomex IIIA or PBI/Kevlar blend. This is flame resistant, heat resistant, and doesn’t melt.
Color: Navy Blue. The stripes are 3M Scotch lite Reflective Tape for visibility.
Moisture Barrier: PTFE Membrane A layer like GORE-TEX under the outer shell. It stops water/chemicals but lets sweat out.
Thermal Liner: Aramid Quilt Nomex/Kevlar batting inside. This protects from radiant heat and burns.
Helmet: HDPE or Polycarbonate Shell Yellow hard shell with Polycarbonate face shield + Nomex neck shroud.
Gloves: Aramid outer + Kevlar stitching + Leather palm Heat resistant and cut resistant for handling hot equipment.
Boots: Rubber/Nitrile with Steel Toe Heat resistant, puncture resistant, and waterproof.

Purpose = Protects from flame, heat, steam, and physical hazards for short entry into fire This is heavy-duty PPE, not a normal uniform. It’s designed to protect for a few minutes in direct fire/heat.
